Nobles Darby's Call to Christ
At the 2018 Cleveland Area FCA Glenville High School Football Camp, I learned and experienced a lot of things that were new to me. First off, I had never been at an FCA Athletic Camp, so this experience was new. Second, I had never before led a Huddle of 10 young Football players in Bible study and prayer. Oh, I had taught Sunday School, both to Grade School and High School aged kids, but I had never led a huddle. I was given an FCA guide so I could prepare for the Bible study that the other Huddle groups of 10 would be using. All went well, as a matter of fact, it went very well as the kids were eager to offer prayers and were active in the bible lesson discussions.
Near the end of the third day, Nobles Darby, one of our Cleveland Metro Area FCA Area Reps, spoke to the kids, some seventy strong. They had been through a rigorous three days of football training and education, but they were still very attentive. Nobles paraphrased the passage in Ecclesiastes 9:11 when he stated that the race is not given to the swift or the strong, but to those who endure. Then he asked the kids who can we depend on to help us in this race of life that we are running. He followed with the answer that we can depend on Jesus Christ. He went on to explain more, but soon he asked the kids if they wanted to accept Jesus Christ into their hearts and lives to help them endure throughout their lives, to stand up and link arms. He continued on with this Call to Christ and all participated including the coaches. What a wonderful conclusion to a wonderful three days of football camp.
