Steve Sanders was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio where he graduated from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District in 2001. He continued his education at Bowling Green State University where he was apart of 3-time National Championship coach Urban Meyer’s first recruiting class. Sanders finished his college football career with impressive career stats landing him honors as one of BGSU’s All-Time leading wide receivers.
More importantly, he graduated college with a bachelors degree in Political Science. Sanders on field success led him to play in the NFL for his hometown, the Cleveland Browns, during the 2006-2008 seasons. He also has played for the Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals. In 2012, Sanders willingly retired from the NFL to pursue his life’s purpose of directly impacting young people who have come from similar environments.
In addition to his playing career and philanthropy, in 2013, Steve Sanders launched Training Camp For Life, a nonprofit organization created to inspire, impact and influence students and student-athletes to improve their character and leadership skills. He published his first book, “Training Camp For Life: Developing Champions In Sports and In Life” in 2014. To date, over 20,000 copies of Training Camp For Life have been distributed worldwide in both English and Spanish.

In October 2015, Steve Sanders became the Metro Cleveland Director for Fellowship of Christian Athletes. As Metro Director, he administers the vision for five counties in the Northeast Ohio region leading coaches and athletes to Christ. Steve and his wife, Mirica, recently welcomed a newborn son, Steven Sanders Jr.
